12 road deaths in 24 hours

Twelve people had died in road accidents within the 24 hours that ended on Saturday night at 8.00 pm, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said yesterday.

DIG Rohana said seven of those deaths had been caused by accidents on Saturday while the other five took place on Friday night.

Four pedestrians and three motorcyclists were also among the victims.

DIG Rohana said the victims of motor traffic accidents were mainly motorcyclists, pillion riders and pedestrians.
