Thomians rout Petes to secure semi-final berth

S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia rattled St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya for 62 runs before cruising to a nine wickets victory in the Under 17 Division I cricket quarter-final played at Reid Avenue on Thursday. Paceman Kavindu Dias and spinner Rajindu Tilakaratne were the heroes for S. Thomas’ as they ran through the St. Peter’s batting line up sharing eight wickets between them.

Dias who triggered the collapse took five wickets for 28 runs. Except Oveen Salgado, who scored 15 runs, none of the Petes batsmen could reach double figures. Thilakaratne mopped up the tail taking three wickets in a five over spell.

In their essay, the Thomians reached the target in 12 overs.

S. Thomas’ will now meet Trinity in the semi-finals.
