Polls Chief was impartial

UNP MP for Gampaha district John Amaratunga said that Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya had proved his impartiality in the manner he discharged his duties during Saturday’s polls in the three provinces.

Asked what those who criticised the UNP leadership would now say about the overwhelming defeat suffered by the party at recent elections, he said that there were a few incidents of violence and the Elections Commissioner could not be held responsible for them. (NP)
