Another gold smuggler nabbed

A 36-year-old Lankan from Grandpass was detected by the Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Saturday (8) attempting to smuggle out, of the country, over one kilo of gold hidden in his person. The value of the gold was estimated at Rs. 06 million.
According to a Customs source at the BIA, the Sri Lankan was to travel to Mumbai (Bombay) in India on a Sri Lankan Airways flight.
Last week too, three Sri Lankans, flying to India, were detected with four and a half kilos of gold biscuits hidden in their person.
