Curfew violators keep breaking records

Police have arrested 528 people, during the 24 hours that ended at 6 am, yesterday, for violating the curfew, imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The police also took into custody 150 vehicles driven without curfew permits, during that period.

According to the Police Media Unit, 61,621 persons have been arrested since the countrywide curfew imposed on 20 March.

Police have taken into custody 17,322 vehicles including, three wheelers and motorcycles, during this period.

According to the Police Media Unit, 18,496 cases have been filed, pertaining to incidents of violation of curfew regulations since the 20th of March, and 6,991 persons have been convicted.
