Badulla general hospital gets Covid-19 treatment facility

One hundred and fifty doctors had volunteered to work at the COVID-19 treatment facility established at the Badulla Provincial General Hospital, Dr. Palitha Rajapaske, coordinator at the centre said.

This is the only such facility in the Uva Province.

He said that given that in many countries doctors and nurses were compelled to work long shifts, to treat COVID-19 patients, the presence of 150 doctors would ensure that the health workers, too, would not be overstretched. After working at the COVID-19 treatment facility, these doctors too would undergo the quarantine process.

The new COVID-19 treatment facility, at Badulla, has 38 beds.

Dr. Rajapaske said that a large number of doctors had volunteered at centres established in various hospitals and urged the people to follow the instructions of the health officials to minimize the spread of the pandemic.
