PM agrees to come before PCoI on Monday to answer queries regarding controversial lease agreement

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating corruption in the current administration at 9.30 am on Monday (16).

 Earlier the Commission had asked him to appear before it, today. The prime minister said that he couldn’t make it as had to be in Mannar. However he informed that he could appear before the Commission next Monday.

 He will be questioned on the questionable lease agreement signed between the Agriculture Ministry and D. P. Jayasinghe Company at a total cost of Rs. 1.3 billion.

 Appearing before the Commission, on Tuesday, Former Minister of Agriculture, Duminda Dissanayake said it was not fair for the PCoI to question him on the controversial lease agreement as all decisions on the transaction had been taken by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
