Doctors serving in the North Western Province will hold a demonstration opposite the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, today, demanding the appointment of a presidential commission to probe allegations against Dr. Mohammad Shafi.

The doctors say they are not satisfied with the ongoing investigations against Shafi. Secretary of the Kurunegala Branch of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) Dr. Indika Ratnayaka said that they also wanted Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne to resign. Similar protests would be held in other provinces soon, he added.

Today's protest will commence at 11 am and go on for an hour.

Meanwhile, 900 women have, so far, lodged complaints against Shafi.
