Govt. working on anti-terrorism mechanism - Ranil

To ensure ISIS-inspired violence doesn’t recur in SL

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday that it is the responsibility of the government to chalk out an anti-terrorism mechanism to ensure that ISIS terrorism doesn’t surface in Sri Lanka again.

"In keeping with this responsibility, we are now working on a series of measures to counter the possibility of terrorism raising its head again", the premier told a ceremony under the ‘public services to the village’ concept at Sangamitta Vidyalaya in Matale.

He said that the ISIS is based on a violent ideology. With this in mind, Sri Lanka should adopt counter and preventive measures to tackle the possible threat of terrorism resurfacing in the country again.
