The third week of the exciting Singer School’s U19 Rugby League 2019 will begin today with six matches scheduled in the Division 1 segment.

After two weeks of action, only three teams have remained – defending champions Royal College, runner-up St. Joseph’s College and dark horses in the current season Isipathana College.

Teams like Zahira College, Maliyadeva College and St. Anthony’s College have struggled early on as they have lost both their matches while St. Peter’s College, Science College, Wesley College, Trinity College, Kingswood College, and S. Thomas’ College have produced mixed-bags of performances, losing one and winning one game.

The arch-rivals in Kandy - Trinity College and St. Anthony’s College will kick-off the third week today at Pallekelle, while the ‘Maradana Derby’ will be worked out at Havelock Park when St. Joseph’s College host Zahira College. Both Trinity College and St. Joseph’s College are expected to win their games respectively.

Another mouth-watering clash will be worked out on Saturday at Havelock Park when the high-flying Isipathana College take on Science College. Both teams are known for their fast-paced rugby.

Maliyadeva College has already conceded two 50+ scores in both the matches and they will find it difficult as they host St. Peter’s College on Saturday in Kurunegala.

After a morale-boosting victory over S. Thomas’ College to retain the Michael Gunaratne Trophy last weekend, Royal College will look to continue their unbeaten run as they host Wesley College on Sunday at Royal Sports Complex. The third week of School’s Rugby will come to an end on Monday at Mount Lavinia as S. Thomas’ will host a tough opposition in Kingswood College.
