Isuru Dayananda stars for Dharmaraja

The Rajans showed that they have a formidable batting line up, even though they may be a trifle inconsistent, with a fine performance against Aanda. The match played at Lake View ended in a draw, but the home team took first innings honours.

Dayananda took 363 minutes over his knock, and faced 274 balls. He reached the boundary 16 times.

Ananda skipper Kamesh Nirmal who made 77 in the first innings, batted well again to make an unbeaten 37 in the second innings.

Needless to say, on a smallish ground and a fast outfield, runs were easy to come by. Dharmaraja’s left armer Upendra Warnakulasuriya who took 6-88 was the only bowler to make an impression.

Ananda 252 and 73-1 in 14 overs;

Kamesh Nirmal 37 n.o., Kanishka Ranthilakage 26 n.o. Thushan Herath 1-23.

Dahrmaraja 79-0 contd., 317-6 decl. In 98 overs;

Isuru Dayanadna 123, Yasith Samararatne 65, Sachichinta Senanayake 42, Dulaj Bandara 25, Dhanuka Marasinghe 23 n.o., Janidu Jayawardena 2-66.
