Schools Athletics Association to conduct Special Workshop for coaches



The Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association will conduct a three-day Special Athletics Coaches Workshop for nearly 30 selected coaches. According to Upali Amaratunga, the president of the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association the rare coaches training programme will be conducted by an IAAF lecturer from Singapore.


"We are conducting the workshop to upgrade the knowledge of coaches. We have selected coaches who have produced results at national level," Amaratunga told The Island.


"We have got the blessings of the Ministry of Education and the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka to conduct the event."


"This is a rare opportunity for schools coaches to get valuable inputs on various subjects of coaching from a qualified instructor," said SLSAA official Jayalal Ratnasuriya, who himself is an IAAF qualified coach.


The workshop will commence at Rajasinghe Central, Hanwella on December 9 and will be conducted by IAAF lecturer Veeramanic Chidambaram.
