Kirivehera Chief Incumbent, who suffered gun shot injuries flown to private hospital in Colombo

Chief Incumbent of Kirivehera Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda Thera, who suffered gunshot injuries on Tuesday night, was airlifted from Hambantota General Hospital to a private hospital in Colombo, yesterday afternoon, for further treatment.


Ven. Dhamminda, who is also the Chief Sangha Nayake of Ruhunu Magampattu and another monk, shot and injured by three gunmen, were initially admitted to the Kataragama Hospital and then transferred to Hambantota General Hospital.


Dhamminda thera, who suffered bullet wounds to his abdomen and right hand was brought to Colombo in an Air Force helicopter. According to Hambantota Hospital Director Dr. Dhanushka Perera Dhamminda Thera underwent surgery there yesterday early morning.


The other injured monk Ven. Vidapola Sobitha Thera, a teacher at Kataragama Central College, continues to undergo treatment at the Hambantota General Hospital.
