Arrest of heroin peddler leads cops to revolver



 


Acting on a tip-off, the Galle branch of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), arrested a person close to Bandarawatte railway crossing in the Hikkaduwa police area on Sunday (April 15) afternoon. A senior police official told The Island that the 27-year-old suspect had three grammes and 450 mg of heroin in his possession and under interrogation he had led the investigators to his wife’s home at Weragoda in the Meetiyagoda police area, where a revolver, three rounds of 9mm ammunition and a hand grenade were recovered.


The police identified the suspect as a resident of Gintota, Piyadigama.


Meanwhile, Colombo police also on Sunday afternoon arrested a woman carrying 15 grammes and 100 mg of heroin at the Pattiya junction in the Peliyagoda police area. (SF)
