Navy repairs Ayagama suspension bridge

The Navy, on Sept. 11, repaired the suspension bridge at Ayagama, Ratnapura. The bridge had been rendered impassable due to the inclement weather that prevailed over the past couple of days. Thanks to the Navy’s intervention, the residents can now use the bridge without any risks. The bridge had been damaged by the rising river waters of the Galathura Ganga, and the strong currents, triggered by the heavy rains. Upon being alerted by the extensive damage to the suspension bridge, Navy Headquarters rushed a team of naval personnel, headed by an officer, to the location. With the assistance of the residents, the Navy’s emergency responsive team, was able to restore the bridge and make it safe for the users, within a day.
