Rajagiriya flyover ready for use by December

Higher Education and Highways Minister Lakshman Kiriella yesterday said that the flyover under construction at Rajagiriya would be completed by the end of this year.

The Minister made an inspection tour of the flyover construction site on Sunday. The flyover was being built under the supervision of the Road Development Authority (RDA) and it has now reached its final phase. The total construction cost of the project is Rs. 4,700 million and contract time-line is 32 months. The construction work began on April 19, 2016 by the RDA.

Constructed under the Spanish Flyover Project, the Rajagiriya flyover is 542m in length and consists of four lanes.

National Policies and Economic Affairs Deputy Minister Harsha de Silva, Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways D.C. Dissanayake, Chairman of the Road Development Authority (RDA) Nihal Sooriyaarachchi and Director General of the RDA Rohitha Swarna also took part in the inspection tour. (MM)
