HC allows Welgama to argue his written submissions

By Chitra Weerarathne

The Colombo High Court yesterday allowed UPFA Parliamentarian for Kalutara District Kumara Welgama to argue his written submissions on Sept. 20.

The written submissions are in objection to the application to the Magistrate’s Court by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. They seek to revise their plaint alleging abuse of Sri Lanka Transport Board money by Welgama while he was the Minister of Transport Service during the former regime.

The abuse is in appointing a Deputy Chairman to the Sri Lanka Transport Board and thereby misusing money.

Counsel Kalinga Indatissa P.C. appeared for Welgama.

The bench comprised Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi.
