Trinity regain Canon de Saram TrophyMarch 21, 2017, 12:10 pm
Trinity made it four out of four when they scored an emphatic 29 points (two goals, three tries) to 14 (two goals) win over S. Thomas at Longdon Place last evening.
The Trinity back division was in their element in the first-half and the Thomians were at their wits end not knowing how to stop the threatened avalanche..
This was after the Thomians had kept the Trinity defense busy in the first ten minutes or so by camping in the latter’s 22.
The Mount Lavinia boys had one or two opportunities to go over, but the visitors survived that particular ordeal.
The Thomians played the second-half minus their star – skipper Naveen Henakankanamge. However the Thomian pack rose to the occasion and gave their opponents several anxious moments.
Winger Amith Kulatunga, center Diluksha Dange, full back Avishka Shiek, number eight and skipper Nathan Yee and Akitha Sakalasuriya scored the tries for Trinity.
Fly-half Lashan Wijesuriya converted two of them.
On the evidence of this and their other games, it’s clear that Trinity will brook no stopping.
Both Trinity and Royal are unbeaten and their clash in the first leg of the Bradby will certainly be worth watching.
