Suraj Prabodh beats Kunal Anand to win round 1

Astoria Asian Tennis Tour in Colombo

India’s Suraj Prabodh, the 4th seed, got the better of compatriot Kunal Anand, the 2nd seed, in the final of the Men’s Round 1 of the four-part Asian Tennis Tour (ATT), now being held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association hard courts in Colombo.


This Men’s and Women’s ATT features a number of top Asian tennis players alongside some of the best current Sri Lankan players.


Of the host country players, only Thangarajah Dineshkanthan and Madusha Wijesuriya reached the 2nd round while Vibuda Wijebandara, Sharmal Dissanayake and Yasitha de Silva lost in their very first round.


The men’s first round of the ATT began on January 9. The 2nd men’s event will start today and go on till the 15th. The two women’s tournaments will follow from the 16th to 22nd of January.


Each segment of the tournaments carries prize-money worth $ 5,000.
