St. Mary’s College, Kegalle hurdler Anuradha Vidusanka has qualified to represent the country at the forthcoming Youth Olympics when he was placed fourth in the boys 400 metres hurdles at the Asian Area Qualifying meet for Youth Olympics held in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.

He is the only athlete from Sri Lanka to have qualified (from the eighth athletes sent) for this meet.

Vidusanka clocked 52.97 seconds to be placed fourth in the boys’ 400 metres hurdles finals.

According to Athletics Association of Sri Lanka sources there were five quota places offered for Asia in this discipline and Vidusanka has secured one of those placed by virtue of his fourth place finish.

In the girls category Kuliyapitiya Central athlete Dilhani Fernando was placed third in the 800 metres final for a time of 2:11.55 seconds. However, with lesser number of quota places available for Asia in that discipline she has not been able to secure a place.
