Burnt down Homagama Industrial Zone paint factory had no licence

The paint factory which caught fire on Thursday at the Homagama Industrial Zone, had not been approved by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), Ajith Weerasundara, media spokesman for the CEA told the media on Friday (18.)
“We are planning to take necessary legal action,” he said.
Director of the Environmental Division of the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) Sarath Premasiri said that they are investigating whether there has been a substantial release of chemicals into the environment. A report will soon be released, he said.
The blaze was finally doused around 3 am on Friday (18).The factory and several vehicles were destroyed during the fire.
The fire brigade of the Sri Jayewardenapura Kotte Municipal Council, Police, Army and the Horana Fire Brigade were involved in fighting the fire.A total of 10 fire trucks were deployed for this operation.The reason for the fire has not yet been determined.
